How to Make an Emergency Lantern with Baby Oil and a Tampon

WHAT YOU NEED

Clean, empty coffee can (or glass jar)

Dirt or sand

Tampon

Baby oil, vegetable oil, or fat from cooked bacon or any other meat

Butane lighter or matches

WHAT TO DO

1. Fill a clean, empty coffee can with tightly packed dirt or sand to within an inch of the rim.

2. Remove a tampon from its wrapper, discard the cardboard or plastic applicator, and push the tampon into the dirt or sand with the string sticking up from the dirt.

3. Pour baby oil, vegetable oil, or bacon or meat fat into the can.

4. Light the tampon string.
